New Jersey Statewide Scouting  Events

Over the years several important Statewide gatherings of Scouts have ocurred.  We are actively seeking research materials and memorabilia documenting these events.

Boy Scouts


1976
A Mini Jamboree was held by Southern New Jersey Council - details needed.

 

1998
The Jersey Jamboree was held in the fall at Waterloo Village, Stanhope, NJ for 10,000 Scouts, 24 Councils, 7 States.  Scouting Magazine Article.

2004


The New Jersey State Police Camporee was held 10/22-24/2004 at Sea Girt National Guard/Police Training facility, Sea Girt, NJ, approximately 6,300 Scouts.   Scouting Magazine Article.

2007




The New Jersey State Police Camporee II was held 10/5-7/2007 at Sea Girt National Guard/Police Training facility, Sea Girt, NJ, approximately 10,000 Scouts attended.  The Star-Ledger Article, Asbury Park Press Article 1, Asbury Park Press Article 2, Toms River Times Article.  Honorees Colonel Joseph R. Fuentes, New Jersey State Police Superintendent; Robert C. Warner, President Jersey Shore Council, BSA; Astronaut Mario Runco, Jr.; Major General Glenn K. Rieth, Adjutant General of New Jersey; Ambassador William J. Hughes; and Dr. Hal A. Yocum as "Lord Baden Powell".  Largest Boy Scouting event in the United States in 2007.
